This happens if I go out at night. Darwin's way of communicating to me that he is not pleased with me feeding him later than he is accustomed to. I cleaned up the mess and he refuses to eat even now! Spoiled...spoiled....dog.
Try this out -- we've got a cat who will not eat out his bowl. For some reason he feels compelled to painstakingly hook bits of kibble with his little claws, pull them out of the bowl, scatter them all around, and then eat them off the floor.
